pawaPay and Airtel Money Africa join forces to transform cross-border payments in Africa

pawaPay has announced an exciting partnership with Airtel Money Africa, Africa’s leading mobile money provider, to revolutionise cross-border remittances across the continent. This collaboration extends pawaPay’s reliable payment infrastructure into seven key markets (Uganda, Rwanda, Zambia, Malawi, Gabon, Congo Brazzaville, and Tanzania), enabling seamless inbound transfers directly into the mobile wallets of over 161 million Airtel Money customers.

Leveraging pawaPay’s robust platform, which processes over four million transactions daily, this partnership streamlines and secures the movement of funds across borders, supporting families, entrepreneurs, and businesses vital to Africa’s economic growth. Airtel Africa’s CEO, Ian Ferrao, noted that this expansion strengthens financial inclusion and accelerates economic development by connecting international money transfer operators with Airtel’s growing digital footprint.
